KTM has long been dominating the adventure touring segment. Yet they didn't have a middleweight adventure motorcycle in their product range. The rumours about the announcement of an 800cc adventure bike were already around for quite some time. Stephan Pierer, the KTM CEO, has finally confirmed it. The bike does not have a name yet.
The new KTM 790 adventure bike will have an 800cc parallel-twin engine with a 270° crank. The bike will have a completely from scratch designed chassis with an extra focus on the reduce of weight and off-road performance. The engine will produce approximately 100bhp. With a 21" front wheel, 18" rear wheel and WP front forks this KTM will be competitive with other concurrents - like the new BMW F850GS or Honda's Africa Twin - if they can keep the price somewhere similar. The bike will be released early 2018.
